Review: What happened so far?

On October 17th 2018, the Grand Council of the canton Basel-City approved the multi-million mega-project "Ozeanium" on the Heuwaage. The Green party of Basel-City (Grüne BS) has called a referendum to fight this fatal decision. Together with Fondation Franz Weber, the broad referendum committee "No to the Ozeanium" has been formed, as Basel voters should have the last word about the planned building block on the Heuwaage.

Thanks to the support of numerous dedicated signature collectors, the committee "No to the Ozeanium" was able to hand over almost 5,000 collected signatures to State Secretary Barbara Schüpbach-Guggenbühl on November 28th 2018. On December 15th, the State Chancellery of Basel-City published the result of the validated signatures: 4,649 people request the referendum against the "Ozeanium" with their signature. Therefore, it is clear that the "Ozeanium" project will come to a vote in the canton Basel-City on May 19th 2019.

Stay tuned until May 19th 2019
